To go to your destinations you just get a trike, actually I think from the Mall to the Airport you can use Jeepney with one change. Same with the port. The Resort is about a 45 minute drive from Bacolod City and you can also reach it via Jeepney, while I would recommend a pick up and drop off if you are not on a very tight budget. hope it helps already a little bit. cheers Rhoody

From the Silay airport, you can ride the shuttle and from there you can ride a jeepney going to bacolod. Then ride another jeepney with Mandalagan or Bata and just ask if they will pass by SM Bacolod. Or if you want to go to manokan country, just kindly ask the driver to drop you off at Manokan country. From there, ride a jeepney going to Libertad, and kindly ask again the diver to drop you off where Pulupandan jeepneys are. Anyways, just ask the dirver or the people around they are approachable =) Actually, at Pulupandan you can be able to ride a pump boat going to Guimaras if you want to go there on your next trip. Best regards. Chrissy

I live here in Bacolod and there are many easy ways to get around here. If you are not shy to use jeeps, use them. Bayad to pay, Lugar Lang (sp?) to stop. (I have heard it said differently in other cities) The best way to get to SM Bacolod from the Airport is the SM Shuttle. There are a ton of shuttles that will drop you off anywhere in Bacolod city so long as it's on their longer route to SM mall. They usually pass by the bus terminals then go to SM mall. The fair for this is typically no more than 150pesos. Also if you are staying in a hotel and get advance reservations, many hotels offer free shuttles from the airport to their hotel. Hotels offering this that I know of for sure are L' Fisher, Check Inn Pensionne, O hotel, and I forget the name of the one directly across from Gaisano City mall but it too is a nicer hotel with free shuttle. Those looking to stay in Bacolod on a budget but have easy access to everything you need, try out Check Inn Pensionne. I stayed in a standard room by myself and then my wife for over 2 months. It has some of the cheapest rates in town at 500php per night and if you catch the manager on the right day, they will give you a discount for extended stays like they did with me. Hotels like L'Fisher, MO2 westown, O hotel, and so on are all over 1000 per night starting rates but are all luxury hotels as well. From SM Mall you have access to many attractions within walking distance. You have the plaza which is directly across from the Cathedral. The Cathedral is an attraction in and of itself. That area is worth the walk up from the mall plus it will help burn off the great food offered at SM mall. After you get your fill there and get great deals on China made junk in the Plaza Mart area, hop on a Bata-Libertad jeep or Mandalagan jeep to take you up right past the capital building of negros which has a great park in front of it and is within walking distance of the NEW immigration office should you need an extention while your there. There is a mini-zoo as I call it next to this park which in town is reffered to as "Lagoon." From here you can walk up and down Lacson street for excellent eating, shopping and so on. You can hop right back onto Mandalagan or Bata Jeeps to take you up to the Robinson mall which has a larger Cinema than SM mall for you movie goers. For Coffee lovers, Go to Bascon Cafe for some of the best native Batangas coffee I have ever had and being a previous Starbucks fanboi, this little and super cheap cafe offers better coffee and food than starbucks ever thought. For food, do not be afraid to try the little places. Most of them are the best and are far cheaper than the streamlined eateries. Bacolod is known for Lechon and it's Inasal or BBQ as others may call it. So trying this is a must because it's some of the best in the Philippines. In Punta-taytay, they have a nice little beach with excellent food with fish fresh off the boats and some of the best Kinilaw (sp?) you will ever have. Oysters are great there if you like oysters also. You can take the punta-taytay jeep there and then ask a tricycle to take you to the beach. If you want to get into bars with great beer specials and environments. Rogers at Alijis road across from the OLD airport is a nice open bar offering beer specials for as cheap as a bucket of 7 beers for only 170 pesos. Metroside grille offers drink specials of 5 for 150 beers. Both of these bars having live music every night. As part of the MO2 family, MO2 Goldenfield, just up from Gaisano City Mall, is in the Goldenfield complex which also holds many small disco bars as well as a casino as well. For a little more upscale bar hopping, try out The Wave Lounge which is in the MO2 westown hotel within walking distance of the SM supermarket exit. Prices are higher but it features live music with fully airconditioned facilities with a full bar. It's sister bar/club MO2 Ice is a full bar with a nice outdoor area that has a quieter ambiance but also has a large club area which is completely packed on friday and saturday night. If your a tourist I wouldn't recommend this unless you like the club scene. Be sure to leave all valuables at home and keep your cash secure as you have no way of knowing if your being pickpocketed in MO2 ICE on a big club night like thurs-sat. Also MO2 Ice has a cover on Fridays and Saturday but it comes with a free drink. Cover is only for men. Another nice bar is Siberia located near the Shopping/Bus terminal area. I'm pretty sure this will give you plenty to go by and if you have a chance for all that then you will learn new places while finding all these exciting places. The most fun about traveling is discovering what you didn't know. This should give you a good base. You make it better! J
