Arrow "Ruins" in Bacolod

Located in the borders of Talisay and Bacolod City, it is one of the best ancestral homes in the Island of Negros Ocidental. The mansion was owned by Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson for his first wife, Maria Braga, a Portuguese from Macau whom he met in his vacations in Hongkong.

It shows the remains of the mansion during World War II wherein the family intentionally burned the house so that the Japanese people won’t use it as their headquarters. Today, the mansion or “The Ruins” is a must-see attraction in the Island of Negros.Wedding, Birthdays, and some events are also held in that mansion. For a minimal fee of PHP25.00, one could take pictures around the mansion. Its owners, the Javellanas, are continually adding improvements in the place, even setting up a cafe which serves light drinks and snacks and foods.

HOW TO GET THERE:
If you are commuting, you can hire a tricycle, either at Bangga Pepsi or at Bangga Rose Lawns (Memorial Park) and tell the driver to take you to the Ruins. If they don’t know what you are talking about, you can describe the haunted structure of the place, I’m sure, they’ve heard of it. If not, you can tell the driver you are going to the simborio.

For me, the Ruins are best enjoyed during dusk. What better way than to slowly sip a good cup of coffee (best if spiked) while taking in the beauty of the sunset. The drama! If you stay a little more, you can catch the mansion in its mystic glow bathe with lights and over, wait until 5:30 and you’ll see the perfect beauty and secret color of that mansion. This is very interesting place because of its historical story and structure.

I would easily say 40 feet high. It could easily be a 3 story home but the ceilings per floor are a minimum 15-20feet in height. So total building might be around 50ft high?

Another interesting fact about the Ruins is it is said to be haunted. Many have claimed to have seem late night dancing and apearances on the second level however there is no floor. Some claim to have caught it on camera however no one has provided substantial proof nor the alledged photos of ghosts that weren't deemed as fakes or not substantial evidence.

Great place to visit. Beautiful gardens, great photo potentials, and good food at the restaraunt they have set up in the mansion.

My wife and I had our pre-wedding photos done here.
