The last time I visited Davao was when I (representing the Philippines Free Press) was with a group of print and broadcast journalists based in Manila who were given a familiarization tour over the Pan-Philippine Highway, courtesy of Philtranco, many years ago when their buses were new. We were a busload. With us were Manny Goluyogo and his wife, representing Today, photojournalist Rudy Liwanag of Bulletin, the advertising manager of Philippine Star, a reporter from Pilipino Star, another from Malaya, a camera crew from LakbayTV, people from Philtranco's
PR agency, headed by Eugene Aguilar; Cris Datol of Bulletin, Manny of TargetMarket ad agency, people from PRTV, others I could not remember. It was a seven-day overland trip passing Matnog and Liloan with RORO vessels.
Our first stop was in Sariaya town in Quezon just past midnight. Our host was the mayor. Our arrival was delayed because there was a storm when we left Pasay terminal.Second compulsory stop was Naga where we slept in Philtranco's oldest terminal.Next stop was Legaspi. We made a trip to Cagsagwa ruins in Daraga. (more to follow)
