Bohol Trip Report - Part 1

Hey all,

The first day it was raining a bit so we took a rest in the hotel before heading out later in the day. We then were going to do the river cruise dinner thing that night.

The food sucks but the river ride itself is very nice. Usually there is some sort of band or a guy on a guitar playing some music while you float down the river and then also a stop at some local village where the whole town comes down and performs a little show for the passengers. A very nice time. Cheap too, at about 300 pesos a head or so.

Went and saw the tasiers today as the girlfriend had this on her "must do" list. She loved those little guys so much I bet I will probably visit them a couple more times at least during this trip.

The tour guide wanted to shove about 10 more things in as well to do the same tour but I told him that I didn't want to be in a rush anywhere and enjoy my time so we went slow and visited only a few areas each day. This is the best way to see Bohol.

Well, that's it for now. I will post more day to day activities as I go but the first day was a little slow because of the bad weather.

We hit the Chocolate Hills on day two. While it is true that they are just a bunch of hills, it is still something everyone must do at least once when in Bohol.

I had seen them before but the girlfriend hadn't and she really enjoyed them. It is making this trip to Bohol great to experience everything through her eyes. And in that vein we stopped by and visited the tarsiers again as she just loves them. I'm pretty sure another trip (or two or three) will also be in order.

Moving hotels a lot as I need to review as many as possible. This is a slight pain but a necessary evil. 2 hotels so far and moving again tomorrow and then out to Pangalo for a few as well. Depending on weather may do a night in Nuts Huts as well. That is a very sparse but unique place to stay in Bohol right on Loboc River.

The weather out in the Chocolate Hills was great. Made for some good pictures. I was thinking of getting one of those broom pictures but now they actually do that against a big back drop so it's not even the real Chocolate Hills behind you when you do that, so I voted against it.

Anyway, that's all we did (except a meal at a good restaurant) but more on that soon...

yeah bohol is such a nice place!

i've been there and i've had a great time.

you should try to visit some other places in the philippines.

have you been to boracay?...if not you should!

try also visiting cebu. cebu's got a lot of great beaches.

also dumaguete there is apo island there that's also wonderful!

you should pretty much roam around philippines and have a

wonderful time!......

Beautiful diving here and a few places to hoist a cold beverage in the evening too

We did not make it to Apo on this trip, we did a few dives in Dauin Sanctuary though

he Dane and Island Hopper left yesterday. I am still in Dumaguete (living here).

I booked them into Hotel Palwa. One of my recommendations, next to Hotel Nicanor just opened 1 month ago) or Obdulias, when you wanna stay downtown with everything in walking distance.

Yes, Bohol is a nice place. I'm even planning to spend my retirement years in Bohol--particularly in Maribojoc.
Life in Maribojoc then-- and even today-- is so simple. You can walk around the town proper and visit the old port area in the afternoon as if you're still in the 1960s. There is no traffic, no noisy motorcabs ( I hope), no beggars to pester you and no pollution.People are friendly then--maybe still at present.
The foreshore area, particularly off Lagtangon and Bood barangays is so wide that you can live by just gathering sea foods every afternoon during low, low tide. You can go hiking to Candavid or even the mountain of Lagtangon.
The last time I was in Lagtangon (1960s) I saw a pair of wild chicken. The rooster has a very long tail, just like that of the peacock. People call it labuyo. I hope labuyo still thrives in Lagtangon. Labuyo is an endangered specie then. I hope it is not extinct by this time. I also saw monkeys there during my last climb.

Hi Guyz! my name is cris i'm currently out of country right now but will be coming back this August and i'm planning for a vacation/trip to bohol with my fiance, can you please give me some tips or suggestions on which is the best place to stay in Bohol so we could maximize our stay and minimize our expenses, it should be neat and affordable a place where we can relax and enjoy our stay, it's sort of an advance honeymoon for us =).. Thanks in advance
