| I am a commuter of the Manila Metro Railway Transit or popularly know as MRT. I had been riding this public utility for more than five years now. And all these years I would say I never encountered accident only minor technical problems. This is a faster way to travel along the Epifanio De Los Santos Avenue (EDSA). It has 13 stations found at each key location in EDSA. Stations: North Avenue Quezon Avenue Kamuning Araneta Center-Cubao Santolan Ortigas Shaw Boulevard Boni Guadalupe Buendia Ayala Magallanes Taft Avenue The fare is distance based. It ranges from 10 pesos to 19 pesos. If you are a regular MRT commuter like me, you may opt to purchase a prepaid card worth 100 pesos credits. There are also other cards like the reloadable G-Pass and AXS card. It is also mentioned in some news that there’ll be soon other pass providers like the use of a mobile phone and other contactless cards. On some stations such as Ayala and Shaw Boulevard, there are stalls where you can do last minute shopping before you head home. Taft Avenue, Cubao, North Avenue and also Ayala are connected to or near shopping malls. I recommend the use of this public transport because it is convenient and faster. And now it has extended its service until 1am. MRT also reserves a coach for the ladies, elderly, and disabled for comfort and added priority. It has a downside too like during rush hour say, around 7am to 9am and 5pm to 7pm it is surely jam packed. So make sure you put an extra 1 hour allowance before your appointment or work. Though it has a downside this is still the transport I will choose when I go home from work. |
