| For retirees, migrants, and foreign students living in Manila, here are 3 very important tips you should remember when commuting: 1. In the morning, get to the terminals early. If your office or school time is 8 am, be sure to be out in the streets at 5:30 or 6 am, if you live within Metro Manila. If outside, like Cavite or Rizal, be out earlier. This is to avoid the rush. 2. At noon, don't get a cab from 12 to 12.30 pm. All cabs are likely occupied. If you must go somewhere at noon, leave at 11.am. 3. Try not to go somewhere at 5 pm. Leave at 3 or 4 before the rush hour. If you're still out at 5 or 5.30 pm, you're in for a big traffic trouble. If so, you better have some books to read while stuck in traffic. |

| You should also know alternate routes to travel. For instance, I would either choose to go through the long stretch of traffic in Aurora Boulevard to get to San Mateo, Rizal or head off to Philcoa or Fairview (or hop on a bus heading there) and take the alternate route along Batasan (Congress) when coming from Ortigas or Cubao. I think we need to have a thread about alternate routes when going in and around Metro Manila. |
