The whole area offers a lot of activities, from scuba diving with dolphins to paint-ball games and Jungle-tracks.

a quick overview here: Subic Bay Sightseeing - Zambales - Philippines

Tons of stuff to do on the base with scuba trips, Ocean Adventure, the Zoobic Safari place, and then there is a cool mountain fun park... I forget the name. It's a place with tree swings, repelling, rope bridges, stuff like that. It's pretty strenuous but a lot of fun.

As far as off base, well, plenty to eat ins some restaurants, there are local beaches but I wouldn't spend too much time in the water unless you rent a boat and get out away from the shore. And of course there is nightlife there; no where near what it was back in the Subic Base days, but Barrio Baretto is making a small come back with a few interesting and fun places to hang out and have a few beers.

Recommend Blue Rock on Baloy Beach for dinner and try their grill menu. Absolutely fabulous!

Peace,

- Jung

I think any mention of Olongapo is incomplete if one doesn't also refer to the Catholic priest Shay Cullen, running a shelter for child prostitutes and investigating their abuse history, in order to bring foreign sex tourists to court.
