Unhappy Backpackers Going to Puerto Galera, Mindoro

If you are going to Puerto Galera in Mindoro Island, and you want to stretch your budget, try experimenting Puerto's home-stay arrangement.
You may ask your friendly bangkero, or the person who sold you tickets in Batangas port or the one who met you upon hitting White Beach in Barangay San Isidro. They may help you discretely since the local hotel and inn keepers are now favorable to that kind of arrangement.
I last time I was there, I tried this arrangement. Guess how much I saved. For three days and two nights I was only made to pay P500, after they learned I am a travel writer
What good about home-stay is that you have a ready family. You may eat breakfast with them by contributing canned goods, fresh fish or fruit juice. You may also avail the use of their ref.
Another advantage you may have a free-tourist guide, particularly at night or you want to hike to nearby waterfalls and mountain.
So far this is the best arrangement I had experienced.
