Default Don't Forget Mactan Island

Hello everyone moving to the Philippines.

Just wanted to give my opinon, Mactan Island???? Heard of it. One of the Greastest Islands in the Philippines. It has all the great things, all of the other islands you see on all the web sites. But it does not get much attention. Its to me the Hidden Jewel of The Philippines. Great resorts, beaches, restaurants, entertainment, but not so crowed. You hear about all the other islands mentioned all the time in web sites because they are croweded. Now if thats what you like, good for you. But with so much publicity for those places they are filling up with tourist and sight seers very fast. Mactan Island does not get the attention they get. So we are flying under the radar for right now. So if you want away from the major tourist places, which will get worse year by year, and want just as nice a place, but without so much of the hustle and bussel. Mactan Island is the Place to check out. I have lived here 5 years, i think its great.

Default Adding more

I forgot to say also, much cheaper to live here. The tourist are here, but not so advertised and promoted as the other islands. So the tourist have not pushed up the prices so much here. When they see the tourist really coming in, you can bet::::::::: land, home, food, entertainment, everything will start going up in price. So here you will not have the seclusion of being way out in the province, but also not the thousands of tourist making traffic so bad you cant go anywhere. We are kindly in the middle you might say. Privacy with modern conveniences.
Things about Mactan Island
Nice Condo - 2 to 3 million peso
Beaches - Daily entrance rate - 50 peso
Food and Entertainment - " Good Dinner - 300 to 400 peso.
Electric - 3000 to 4000 peso per month
Rent a Condo - 10 to 20 thousand peso a month.
Water - 1000 to 2000 peso per month
Traffic - Very good, bad only in certain areas.
Schools - Good Schools, Private with English
Women - Most beauitful in the Philippines ( My Opinion)
Police and Saftey - Very good, good reaction times, can walk at night ok.
( does not include Lapu Lapu City) stay out towards the beach areas.
Lots of Housing - New subdivision going up everywhere
Malls - Great Malls and building two more as we speak

I would reccommend the following areas to check out if i have peaked your interest
Soong
Mactan barangay
Areas outside the main Basak ( i cant remember all the different names)
Hope this helps someone.

Patrick,

welcome to PB. You are my man, as you life quite a while here. I might need a cheap accommodation close to bluewater Beach resort as I might need to attend a meeting (if I can't avoid) to build another useless committee in the CoCaA (Country of Committees and Acronyms) early September.

Could be something pretty simple as I have too much to do than wasting my time a second longer than needed in that kind of stuff

any suggestions?

cheers from Dumaguete

Default Cheap Places.

I am located very clost to bluewater beach resort. I dont know what kind of accomidations you will expect but i will give u some ideas.

Buyong Pension Houses - Ac, decent room, not the best, not the worst. about 800 peso per day. (Dont quote me on these prices, should be close)

Mactan Pension House - Same

Hudson Villas - 2000 per night. Next to beach, very secluded. Not many customers. But very nice. To expensive for what they are. But very private.

Then they are many more small hotels and pensions houses around here, that can fit your needs. Easy to get, you wont need a reservation and useally always with vaccany. If you need anymore help, dont hesitate to email.
