Default White Water in Cagayan de Oro City

Crazy is the best word that could describe what I have done for the weekend. Saturday night we went to Zax Swimming Pool with my cousins. We retired to bed at 4:30am and woke up at 7:00am. Alas! It’s time to jump off from bed. Redrafts was to pick us up at exactly 7:30am. We rushed to Jolibee for lunch. We just paid 700 php for a basic course and lunch is not included.

Redrafts crews were so accommodating or shall I say “are” accommodating. They made us feel that we were the most important guest on the 27th of February, 2011. The host were waiting for us for 30 minutes. We were supposed to be picked up at 7:30 am but unfortunately, we arrived at the pick-up point at 8:00am. Yes, you're right, we still had the dose of our unplanned mixed alcohol craze in ZAX Our world was spinning as we traveled for 30 minutes to to the starting point of our rafting in Mambuaya.

At last, we reached the place and it was crowded. Ugh…too many guests for a rainy Sunday? There were souvenir items sold and some stuff to feed your stomach. We were welcomed by the hospitable host. We left our valuables in the jeepney which was securely watched by the driver. We were geared with lifejacket, helmet , paddle and dry bag for our precious foodie. Prof. Dodix the great briefed us for a 20-minute basic short course lecture for rafting 101.We learned about forward stroke, backward stroke.

Rafting began and Mr. Banjo and Mr. Jovit (?) led our odyssey. So, that was the application of what Prof. Dodix had taught us. The battle against the rapids began, with our knowledge and paddle as our weapon. Different techniques and smart maneuvers employed that let us win the pompous rapids. The guides used different paddle strokes to propel and turn the boat in various ways. The rafts captains are not just knowledgeable of the paddling tricks , they are also well versed of Cagayan de Oro's geography, biology that made me reminisce a little bit of my science subjects as we soar the still waters and contemplate with Cagayan de Oro's natural beauty.

Indeed, the hangover was swept by the fun and wit of our raft captains. The knowledge that we gained, the excitement and fun that we've experienced is worth more than 700 pesos. Cagayan de Oro's White Water Rafting is endowed, should I say, not just for the gift of river but for the hospitality of its river guides. Cagayan de Oro River stays alive for the experience of WhiteWater Rafting keeps people coming back Moreover, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude for each captivating memories were captured by RedRaft photographers. Thank for the videos and CD Redrafts.

Actually, the banners and signs out at Cagayan de Oro airport refer to CDO as "THE CITY OF GOLDEN FRIENDSHIP", but that could be merely an advertising slogan, especially if the abundance of pickpockets, beggars and loose women are not encountered downtown far away from adventure and tourist activities elsewhere.

Riverrafting is a must if you're in Cagayan de Oro. Though somewhat suicidal in some sense. Its a great adrenaline rush!
