Unique Sculptures in Marikina I remember that a long time ago Marikina doesn’t have much positive feedbacks. But now Marikina has truly evolved into a beautiful city thanks to the new generations of government officials because of the efforts they have exerted to make Marikina as one of the places to be in Metro Manila.
I am not from Marikina but I frequent this place because it is the hometown of my boyfriend. So some weekends if the weather is good we ride around Marikina and discover new restaurants, parks, spas, and other attractions around the city.
The roads in Marikina are all good. I also give credits for those who implemented the bike lane making it safer for bikers and for car drivers too. We ride around the city using big bike, and me as a backseat passenger, I truly get a good view of the surroundings. I notice that the air I inhale while riding is different from the air I breathe when riding around other cities in the Metro. Marikina’s air is somehow has less toxicity level. I say so because I feel it. Perhaps the plants around help tame down air pollutants. I also observe that the traffic is organized. The streets are clean including the wet market. Also I find Marikina artistic because around the city you will see many sculptures like the images of Filipino labor workers that are made of cement. These sculptures are placed on top of tall pedestals along the main roads and are separated I think 3 blocks apart from each other. There are also modern pieces made of scrap metals like last Christmas Marikina was decorated with silver robots. And if you go to other attractions like in the World of Butterflies, Sports Complex, and Parks you will also see other modern sculptures made of scrap metal. Very creative! |
