Default The memorable Greenbelt Park

Greenbelt Park in Makati holds many of my fondest memories. It was November 1990, I was a fresh graduate and out in the real world to look for job. It brings sad and happy memories whenever I remember that day. I was applying in one of the restaurants near the Greenbelt Park area. I was interviewed by the restaurant manager in the morning and told to come back in the afternoon for the orientation. It’s supposed to be a happy day, I was just hired for my first job but I felt very sad. I only have enough money for bus fare going home. I cannot even buy lunch. So I just sit around in Greenbelt Park Church and write my day’s experience in a notepad to wait for my orientation. I kept that notepad to always keep my feet on the ground in my humble beginning.
Just like Greenbelt Park that had a major face lift from that of 1990, I also succeed in my chosen career. I can now buy food anytime I want, unlike that day that I sat in a bench near the Greenbelt church.
I can no longer find that bench that I sit on that day. Greenbelt Park now has five department stores. Greenbelt One, which is old Greenbelt; Greenbelt Two and Three with its endless rows of fine restaurant; Greenbelt Four and Five that sells the global known and expensive brands.
Indeed Greenbelt change just like me.
