Cheap Manila Hotel

I am looking for a place in Manila to stay for a few days, I don't know how much to expect to pay per night. I have seen websites quoting prices from a couple of thousand Pesos a night up to several hundred US Dollars - what's up with the US dollar thing? I thought it was the Philippines...

I do not need a 5 star hotel, but I wan't something clean and close to the malls / nightlife / sights of Manila...

Any ideas?

You might want to stay at Traders Hotel, just directly in front of the Cultural Center of the Philippines. Room rate would start from 4500 pesos plus taxes and surcharges of course, so expect to pay like at least 5500 per night. But of course there are a lot of cheaper hotels and motels around, just quite not sure if those places are clean or if it's safe around the area.

How much do you want to pay?...you can pick from virtually nothing to a mortgage..

I actually stood in Makati at Durban street inn (guest house) a couple of times for 1200 to 1500 peso, or around the corner at City Garden 2k+, very conveniet to shopping center and nightspots
