| A Prime Philippine Tourist Destination The city of Angeles, Pampanga is located at the Central Region of Luzon in the Philippines. Unique heritage and significant historical events defined the culture of Angeles City. The place was badly affected by the Mount Pinatubo eruption during the 1990's but nowadays; the city government had turned the tides against this not-so-good luck by developing the place for extreme sports aficionados and a wonderful resort. Something about History The place had been the site of the first anniversary of the Philippines’ independence and the seat of then President of the republic, Emilio Aguinaldo in 1899. The post-Second World War had been defined by the movement of Filipino-Meztizos and especially of the American expatriates to settle for good. For this reason, the City of Angeles had been known for its colorful night life, not to mention the place’s world class golf courses, duty-free shops, casinos and resorts. The province of Pampanga has been considered the Culinary Center of the Philippines for its tasty and mouth-watering delicacies. Going to Pampanga? The DMIA or the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (located in Clark Freeport Zone) is about five kilometers from the city proper of Angeles, has made some direct international flights (from Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and other Asian countries) to Angeles City. This international airport has also sufficient facilities for travel and tourist like souvenir boutiques, information center, hotel and lodging offices and car rental services. It is actually another alternate route to avoid the busy metropolitan of Manila. If tourists decided to go Angeles City from Manila, another route would be taking provincial buses. There are various several air-conditioned buses around the Metropolitan Manila where tourists could board to Angeles City as chance passengers. Nonetheless, just to be sure, there are a lot of bus terminals that caters northbound routes (to Pampanga and at any part of northern Luzon) where visitors could make arrangements or book tickets going to Angeles City. Tourists who enjoy adventure and exploring how to go to Angeles City could rent a car and drive their way to Pampanga. Visitors could save some time by taking the NLEX or the North Luzon Expressway and take the Dau or Angeles Exit. Another route from Manila is to take the McArthur Highway where visitors could experience the Bulakeño culture as they pass by some of the places of the Bulacan Province. As always, if traveling through bus or car make sure to give time allowance. The average time travel is 45 minutes (Manila to Angeles City) but taking reality into consideration (traffic and what nots) it may take one and a half hours or at least two hours. There are a lot of reasons why visitors should spend their vacation at Angeles City, Pampanga. The place's historical and cultural significance had shaped the city as one of the best tourist destination in the Philippines. |
