Pan de Amerikana Hot Pandesal is the all time Filipino favorite bread for breakfast. It is best paired with hot coffee or choco. Pandesal is not only for breakfast, it is also famous for “merienda” (snack). Thus anywhere, in the cities, towns, or small barrios there will always be a hot pandesal for sale.
Pandesal is sweet bread. Its ingredients are flour, yeast, egg, milk, salt, sugar, oil. Very basic but each pandesal store has their own secret to include with the basic ingredients. Therefore if you’ll buy pandesal from different stores you’ll notice that somehow each pandesal tastes different from the other.
Having tasted so many pandesal my favorite is Pan de Amerikana’s version. I find the taste and texture perfect. The size of their pandesal is also bigger than the normal sizes sold in the market. Even thought it is bigger, each piece is only 5.50 pesos.
I love to go here because aside from the freshly baked pandesal they also have a restaurant. Some weekends I go here early to enjoy breakfast, it is a very nice place. Their restaurant side is relaxing because you get to look at interesting displays like a giant chess board, shinny Harley Davidson, a tree house. You can also play sungka and enjoy free wifi connection. Their meals are affordable 48 pesos for any of the tapa, daing, tocino or omelet meal. Brewed coffee is 15 pesos and sandwiches for 25 pesos.
Pan de Amerikana’s location is at 92 Ordonez street Concepcion, Marikina. I also know that they have a branch in White Plains and Makati Avenue. |
