Loyola Memorial Park, Marikina I go to Loyola Park three times a year to visit the grave of my grandmother. I go here during months of August, November 1, and December. These mentioned months are our time to pray for her soul and also to have a small reunion with relatives. This cemetery according to records is the biggest in the eastern part of the metropolis. Many dead celebrities are also buried in Loyola, to mention a few the remains of Nida Blanca, Francis Magalona, Tiya Dely, Halina Perez, Rico Yan, and Julie Vega rest in this cemetery.
Looking on a different perspective Loyola is not as creepy as it sounds. Actually during the yearly event of All Souls and Saints Day this cemetery becomes really crowded and several food chains take advantage of the event because they turn this place into an open field food court. You’ll see different kiosks and you can choose to the array of fast food victuals like burgers, dimsum, pizza, rice, fruit shakes, and other easy to cook and eat packed meals.
If it is not the yearly event for the dead, this big cemetery is serene and it really does look like that the dead are resting in peace. Even if it has few people during other months it still doesn’t look creepy. The landscape is soothing to the eyes and the trees are all beautiful just like the pictures of the trees you see in a postcard. |
