Anilao close to Batangas is the birthplace for local Scuba diving. Years before Puerto Galera became the Mecca for Diving in the Philippines, Expats and Locals mainly from Manila and Makati went on weekend trips to discover the pristine underwater world of Anilao. Today Anilao is still a kind of hidden secret and less developed than other SCUBA destinations in the Philippines. The price for diving is still lower and divers can go there with a buddy and just pay for the tank and a small fee for the boatride to join a group but do their independent thing. The underwaterworld in Anilao includes fantastic macro-stuff as well as high-speed driftdiving. When you go to and come from Puerto Galera you should consider a stop-over for some days in Anilao to discover some of the Scuba Diving secrets of Luzon cheers Rhoody

I have been to the islands off Anilao for snokeling visit and island hopping. yes, there are still colored fish there, but the coral reef are dead compared to those found in Bohol or Palawan. I had been to Sombrero Island, off Anilao but the foreshore area is already dead. The fish swim around rocks, not reef. You can learn scuba diving there because of resorts but the sceneries are not that exotic. Better dive near Bauan, adjacent to Anilao, where you can find beautiful underwater sceneries.

Asiantourista, you are right with the corals for snorkling, the Anilao region offeres some awesome critter diving with nudibranches, frogfish andandand. One achieved point this year is that some new regulation help to protect the remaining shallow reefs and hopefully helps the recovering of some old
