Virac, Catanduanes I was in Virac, Catanduanes more than 10 years ago as a visitor of the then Vice Gov. Teofisto Vercelles. At that time the circumferential road was not yet completed. A fraternity brother from A town near Virac told me a week ago that the road, which was reportedly submitted as complete by local DPWH officials, remain rough and incomplete.
Had the circumferential road in the island been completed, tourism there would have boomed since surfing areas abound around the island, particularly coastal towns facing the big ocean. I hope that the local leaders would complete the circumferential road around the island of Catanduanes.
You can ride around Bohol in one day because of the cemented road on the island. If you're in a hurry, there are few roads crisscrossing the entire island of Bohol. Bohol is bigger than Cantanduanes and tourism there is booming although it is farther from Manila, the entry point.
The government, particularly the DPWH, should finish Catanduanes's circumferential road. The potential of Catanduanes is richer than the potential of Bohol. One Catanduanes is nearer to Manila. Second, there are surfing areas there, while there's none in Bohol. Third, there are several airports in Bicol, like Pili, Naga and Legaspi. Bohol has no international airport.
The Panglao airport is still a dream. . . maybe 10 or 20 years from today, See??? |
