Smile Dencios Tagaytay

One of the nicest and finest restaurants that you can visit in Tagaytay is Dencios. It specializes in Filipino dishes like Inihaw na Liempo, Adobong Kangkong and Pork Sinigang. For only 1,000 pesos, you can order three viands, four cups of rice and four drinks. Plus, the place has a nice view of the beautiful Taal volcano. Here are some of the dishes that we ordered when we visited this inviting dining place.

Default Not a good restaurant we thought it could be

It's good to hear those things once in a while. I myself, used to admire their food. Whenever I come back to the PH, me and my wife used eat there too.

Recently, we had a nasty experience with the food. We went there at Dencio's on July 23, 2009 it was around 5:30pm. We ordered Kare-Kareng gulay, Molo Soup, Sisig, Rice and Binagoongan Rice. After serving the food to us, my wife started to chew on a 'meat' that came with the bagoong. To our surprise, it was not meat at all but a Cigarette Butt. We puked in disgust. I too was eating Bagoong rice so you can just imagine the lips and saliva of whoever it was that that disgusting piece of crap went through and we had to put it on our mouths. In my fit of anger, I almost punched the waiter because he was trying to explain the whole thing was clean. I tried to calm down. My wife just couldn't, but I could understand why she doesn't want to. It was so disgusting.

I'm not saying that Dencio's is at all bad. I was a fan myself. I'm just saying that the way they prepare food is so bad these days. They think that just because a lot of customers come in, they cook the food in a hurry. They do not cook according to standards anymore. The worst part is, the crew tried to justify the crap in that bagoong, by saying, "Sir, hindi naman po usually nangyayari sa pagkain yan." So does that mean, it does happen sometimes?

When you cook 'bagoong' (because I have 'bagoong' everytime I can here in Canada) you have to sautee it in a pan, and it would be almost impossible not to see that big piece of crap in there.

When we talked to the manager, she was almost not at all cooperative with our plight regarding the dirty food that they just served. She was just saying yes, but didn't actually give us a resolution on what should be done. They're going to 'Investigate' the thing. It's been almost 2 weeks and still nothing. This was such a horrible experience at Dencio's Tagaytay. Simply horrible.

Not that I want to beat a dead horse but I would feel the same as you did though I would have acted differently.

In an unpleasant situation like that, calling the attention of the store manager is not enough, that will be too self-serving, the management investigates their own mistake and rectify it, and then what?.... I would have taken a snapshot of the cigarette butt and file a formal complaint to the City Sanitation Office and let them do their job - securing the sanitary condition of every business facility in their locality especially facilities serving food else the City Sanitation Office must apply appropriate sanctions like issuing warning to them or revoking their sanitary permit to the facility.

Restaurant facilities can't operate without a valid sanitary permit.

You know smallbird, I did remember to do that.

I did call the Tagaytay City Hall and asked to speak with the City Sanitation Office. Unfortunately, they told me that Dencio's was a good restaurant and that I would have to go through loads of forms to fill out for me to file the necessary complaint and then submit it to the City Sanitation Office. It was so worthless and a total waste of my time because I really wanted to do it except that, first I had to go back to Canada a week after the incident, second instead of wasting my efforts filing that endless report I'd rather be with my wife and last we are from Manila and that would be a real pain to go back and forth to Tagaytay just for that complaint filing stuff. Of course there would also be fees.

Hopefully, these info gets to the public. Shame on Dencio's for putting us into this situation.
