Hello everyone. I'm about 32 working days away from retirement from the space center in Florida. As soon as I can get rid of my home, car, furniture and things like that, I expect to be on a plane heading for the Philippines. As a photographer, I am interested to know where this lovely creature in the masthead of this site can be found? No, it's not that way ... I want to photograph costumes like that and place them on my website for all the world to see. Take care. --Rich--

Hi Rich, welcome to PB. Where are you planning to retire in the Philippines. To get pictures of this indeed wonderful costumes, you just travel a bit around to the big festivals and celebrations. Even the small Barangays have wonderful fiestas and parades. The lovely people of the Philippine Islands are the worldchampions in celebrations and the preparation for each single parade goes on for weeks. As you have 31 days left, you will be in time for the Buglasan Festival in Negros, where Negros Oriental in the central Visayas comes to a total standstill for 10 days. cheers Rhoody

Actually, I retire in 32 days ... it will take me much longer to reach the point where I will be ready to leave Florida. Probably around Christmas or sometime in January. I'm planning on a one-way ticket to the Philippines so getting my materials possessions disposed of will take some time. (Yes, I know I need an outward bound destination [ ticket ] so that will be some close by area). Still, thanks for the info. I knew the festivals were elaborate -- just never saw a costume as elegant as the one in the heading of this website. Do you happen to know what island or festival the pictures was taken at?

Looks like some of the costumes worn at the maskara festival in Bacolod or possible the one in Baguio as well has some very elaborate costumes as well. Both of these festivals are brilliant for picture taking and the locals will literally line up for their picture to be taken. Especially if youhave one of those digital cameras with a big screen so they can see their picture. - Island Hopper

I am not sure what festival it is, had the Sto. Nino image been black ,the picture was definitely taken during SINULOG Festival. She could be a contestant to a beauty pageant contestant ( look at the sash she is wearing) in her costume but definitely not from Masskara Festival - no mask and carrying a Sto. Nino image. But not to worry, we have so many festivals/fiestas. Pretty soon you'll see what I mean, anyway Welcome to PB Rich!
