Howdy, folks! Been lurking around this cool site for quite a while and I find the posts very interesting and informative. My job as an analyst in a previous life has taken me to a number of places in the Philippines which has, indeed, some of the most breathtaking sights I’ve ever laid my eyes on. I write, keep fit and love to enjoy the sights by coasting along the road aboard my trusty bicycle, “quicksilver,” from which I borrowed my nome de plume. I feel priviledged to be a part of this forum about a beautiful country and its warm and interesting people and would be glad to share with you all some of my experiences and insights.

Hi Quicksilver! Welcome to the Philippines! We hope to hear your stories, from a biker's point of view, sounds interesting! If you are a hardcore road- racer, I suggest you join professional cycling team in their training for international games. They normally traverse Luzon Island from Ilocos Norte to Bicolandia, i can't suggest a leisurely trail if you just want to keep fit, most of our roads and traffic rules need to be reworked to be more biker-friendly. But for off track biking , Philippines have a lot to offer. Anyway, Welcome to PB!

Thanks for the warm welcome, Smallbird and OBI. While quicksilver is your typical aluminum frame race bike (...definitely not one of those titanium racers or carbon flyers that cost a fortune, mind you...), the dude who rides it is just an ordinary easy riding roadie and not a triathlon ironman. Sorry to disappoint you guys. You’re right, Smallbird, urban planning in the country is still lightyears away from making the cities more friendly to the most efficient green machine in the world. A saving grace is one place in the Metropolis that seems to be the weekend mecca of roadies (this will be a topic, though, for a different thread). See you around, then, guys..
