I am interested in finding out as much as possible about the different ethnic groups in the Philippines. Where would be a good place to start my research? Is it possible to visit some of the indigenous tribes in the philippines?

are you coming from Manila? there are different indigenous tribes that you can visit near Metro Manila. You can see some indigenous people in Mabalacat and San Fernando, Pampanga. If you travel north, you can spend some time with the indigenous tribes in Baguio and Sagada. On the other hand, if you are traveling south, you can meet some indigenous tribes in Mindoro Oriental.

Good Morning! If you intend to make an academic research on the indigenous peoples of the Philippines , I suggest that you check National Commission on Indigenous Peoples website first. The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) is the authority on IP matters in the Philippines. There are also other useful sites if your research is not tedious. Yes, you can visit their tribes/barrios/sitios but be reminded that you have to be familiar with their cultures first to avoid any possible problem. Reminder: Indigenous Peoples (IP) of the Philippines, like any other people in the world, deserve (no! they demand) utmost respect.
