| In addition to the previously recommended Filipino street food (balut and gizzard), I suggest that you try some more. We have a variety of street/snack foods and here are my top five favorites: Balut – a boiled fertilized duck (or chicken) egg with a developed embryo inside that is eaten in the shell.(!!high in protein and cholesterol snack!!). Fishball -the ball is initially made of fish meat that has been finely pulverized but it is now available in different variety (squid, chicken etc); the hot balls are served skewered and eaten with your choice of dipping sauce. Kwek kwek/Tokneneng- consists of soft-boiled quail eggs (kwek kwek) and chicken or duck eggs ( tokneneng) dipped in orange-colored batter before being skewered and deep-fried and eaten with a dipping sauce. (!!high in protein and cholesterol snack!!) Taho- a highly nutritious snack made of fresh tofu, syrup of brown sugar and vanilla and sago (similar to pearl tapioca) Cornick – (or corn crunchies) are dried, toasted, fried corn kernels that comes in several flavors (plain, barbeque, cheese, garlic.etc). This is available all over the Philippines but ‘chichacorn’ from Ilocos is my favorite. My not so favorite are Adidas(chicken feet), Helmet (chicken head), Isaw (gizzard), etc. What's on your list? |

| here some picturs for those who can't imagine what Balut is. I tried it nd must admit that it is not my cup of tea. At the end of the day the "street snacks" here in the PI are very mild, compared to the stuff you get in Thailand. |
