German national arrested for bringing guns at Aklan airport

KALIBO, Aklan – A 58-year-old German national was arrested by police operatives Tuesday morning for carrying two firearms at the Kalibo International Airport (KIA) without necessary documents.

Police authorities identified the suspect as Augustin Horst, a businessman based in Boracay who was set to fly to Manila.

Recovered from him were a .357-caliber revolver and a .38 handgun placed in a metal case inside his luggage.

Supt. Aden Lagradante, Kalibo police chief, said the foreigner failed to present documents for the firearms.

Airport records showed that he entered the KIA around 4am.

At presstime, Horst was under inquest proceeding for illegal possession of firearms charges.
