| Have you gone to the newly built Park of Davao? Well you’ve never been in Davao if you’ve never been in People’s Park. It is not the usual park in mind where you can picture green grass carpet with big trees. I must say it is the modern park of Davao. Nestled in the heart of the city, just walking distance from different salient points of Davao, It was a project of the City Government to convert a few hectares of previously PTA grounds. It took them a year of construction to finish the park not to mention the money spent for it. As I entered the portals of Peoples park through strict security inspection since smoking, liquor , food and beverages are not allowed, I simply whispered to myself its worth it. The rest of the field was covered with rainbow colored lined bricks. Strategic and breath taking landscapes of different trees, fish ponds and water fountains, playground for the kids made the park indeed perfect. The best thing I must sight in the park is the intricate huge statues of Davao’s symbols. This includes the Philippine Eagle, and animated lumads in their native lifestyle pose surrounding the perimeter of the Park. They also have different tribe inspired native rest house where malicious acts are prohibited and easily caught in the camera monitored park. The park is surrounded by good music and cool breeze of air making you forget you are still inside the Beautiful Davao. |
