Shrine of the Holy Infant Jesus of Prague The Longest name of Catholic Church here I’ve ever known here in Davao. It is more known here as simply “Shrine”. Located at Matina Shrine hills, Davao City, just adjacent to the rolling hills of GSIS Subdivision.
When I was still a child, I mean as far I could remember as a pre- schooler my excitement when my parents would say we would go to Shrine, all I could think then was strolling in the park. When my grand mother requested to shift our usual place of worship to Shrine due to some deep
petition that was when I had the real taste of Shrine.
I witnessed how many people came from different areas obviously on big trucks to show their devotion. It is said that the patron saint grant wishes and thus they are well visited they have an hourly novena at the open altar.
The church has an open air setting one with roof top and the other under the shade of Big tree. Speaking of trees, Old Mangoes trees are treasured within the perimeter of the church and I enjoy the big shade it provides where we are usually seated across the bench or from mono blocks chair provided by the church.
The have different praying areas within different spots of the shrine. The stations of the cross was established by the church’s perimeter thus making the experience a whole lot of holy, more over it is the best place foe meditation and reflection. |
