When talking about budget meals that can solve hunger problems then penongs chicken is the place to be. When unlimited rice was still on its stepping stones to stardom, Penongs I guess was the first among the barbeque house in Davao City located at Illustre street, their Home.

I was with my family then when we finally beat the buzz, I could still remember the rice crisis that Philippines experienced that time. The rice soared up to forty pesos per kilo thus unlimited rice would be the best answer then most especially to those with veracious appetite.

We enjoyed so much their bicol express and kilnilaw paired with Big Chicken barbeque.The bicol express was defined as well done vegetables in coconut milk with adequate amount of meat to supplement the viand.

Penong’s house specialty, barbeques was indeed a blessing. It was charcoal grilled to moist well done one. You can simply taste the marinade in every bite. Unlimited rice was a total fun where rice the sugar source of ever Filipino was unlimitedly asked from a specific waiter who holds responsibility solely to cater the rice needs of every table.

Amidst the popularity they got, They triumphantly managed to expand their business to Matina, Illuste & Sta. Ana street.
