| The place doesn’t only have a tunnel but a history within. It is basically a private property discovered by the owners in 1942 and was later developed into a tourist spot. Swimming pool, restaurant, rooms for overnight stay can be found in the place. The tunnel was said to be the Japanese’s hide out in Davao during the World War II where they conveniently transfer goods, guns and other merchandise without being noticed by the enemies. Underneath the heath, one could truly see the slaves’ work of hand as passageways emerge right before your eyes. On the dead end, is an intersection where a table covered with coins is positioned. We ask the guide about it. He said coins can be thrown and wishes can be granted. Well, it’s up to you to believe it Anyway, as narrated to us by the guide, the other end leads to Bago Oshiro in Mintal (Little Tokyo of Davao) and the other way is going to Maa. Nevertheless, you can’t pass through the gate across as it is already owned by another individual. Inside not only the statue of the golden budda and Japanese soldiers can be found but also the formation of stalactites. Yet, the guide prohibits the guests from touching it. D' Japanese Tunnel Family Resort is located at Matina Balusong, Diversion Road, Davao City. |
