| Ever been too fascinated by caves so that spelunking seems inevitable despite its known risks? Some caves look risky to explore but Davao caves are different. If we have a chance to see them for ourselves we’d grasp the excitement and pleasure of a cave exploration. Davao caves are perfect sightseeing spots. They not only provide for thrilling cave surveying but swimming as well as rare views for wathcing the sunset. Davao caves are worth the trek. Just look at the enchanting mouth of the Pugad Sayaw Cave in the locality of Maputi. This place, a favorite of tourists over other Davao caves, is 14 kilometers away from the town proper of San Isidro. It is a popular remote hideaway for swallows common in the vicinity. Thousands of them are said to inhabit it so that the birds’ darting and dashing to and fro like speedy ballerinas inspired the name Pugad Sayaw, which means simply Dance Nest. This cave, like many Davao caves, is surrounded by boulders oozing with a narrow watercourse of clean mountain spring water. Thus, the entrance to it has a small pool of clear water with some thick growths at the top of its entrance. Gaacob cave, among the amazing marvels of Lindagatan in San Isidro, is accessible by land or sea. It has a natural sea lake with a strip of sandy beach created by the bay formed at the mouth of the cave. This bay connects directly with the vast sea. Among Davao caves, this one affords not only the thrill of peeking through the unknown that lies inside the cave but also the delights of a glorious sunset. The spot has a magnificent plethora of rocks sculpted exceptionally by nature. These natural monuments never fail to capture the imagination of tourists and locals alike. And if we look beyond the milieu of the bay we may chance upon the romantic setting of sprawled small islands not too far away. Among Davao caves, this spot is perfect for night swimming or other isolated nocturnal junkets. The Panganan Cave, also in Maputi, is a more challenging site for exploration, with its deeper recesses and chambers that transport us to another world. If we manage to discover its natural underground waterway through the darkness we will be rewarded with an ample source of mineral water said to be perfect for healings and cures. The spot is 14 kilometers away from the town proper of San Isidro and probably wildest among Davao caves. Davao caves are fascinating destinations for adventure for thrill seekers. They provide satisfaction for our craving for inspiration while wetting our appetite for the unknown. |
