Default Boracay police warns of increasing sea traffic accidents in the island

Quote:
BORACAY ISLAND, March 23 (PNA) – The Boracay Special Tourism Police Office (BSTPO) has warned of the increasing cases of sea traffic accidents in this resort island due to recklessness of some boat operators.

The warning was issued amid the increasing tourist arrivals in the island.

Latest victims of the traffic accidents were Melchor delos Reyes, 26 a bartender of a resort and Myrna Bautista, 51, a government employee of Leyte province.

A report said the two victims on separate occasions were swimming at the beach when they were accidentally bumped by a motorized banca.

Both sustained physical injuries and were brought to the hospital for treatment.

Suspects in the said accidents immediately surrendered to the police authorities and promised to aid in the hospitalization of the victims.

Police authorities are trying everything to minimize if not eliminate sea traffic accidents while swimming in this resort island.

Coast Guard: German drowns in Boracay on Friday the 13th

Quote:
A German national drowned in the waters off world-famous Boracay Island in Western Visayas on Friday the 13th, the Coast Guard said Monday.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) identified the fatality as Hartmut Endemann, 63, whose body was recovered 10 meters from the shoreline of Station 3 in Barangay Manoc-Manoc, Boracay.

Citing belated reports, the Coast Guard said that Endemann was a guest of Luna Rosa Beach Resort.

He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Don Ciriaco Seneres Memorial Hospital.

Physicians said the cause of death was cardiac pulmonary arrest, which resulted in second-degree drowning.

Investigators said the victim's friend, one Ralf Langheinaich, claimed Endemann went swimming and suddenly collapsed before dawn Friday.
