Boracay registers all-time tourist arrivals last year

This island destination registered an all-time high tourist arrival of 649,559 last year, according to the Malay Tourism Office.
Foreigners accounted for 29.70 percent or 192,873 of the total arrivals and domestic tourists posted 432,271 or 66.50 percent while overseas Filipino had 24,415 arrivals from January to December last year.
Out of 192,873 foreigners, Koreans are the top tourist market of the island resort with 69,438 arrivals or 36 percent followed by the Chinese visitors with 27,293, Taiwanese with 22,119 and Americans with 12,500 arrivals.
Hongkong tallied 6,501 arrivals, Australia had 5,375, Germany with 4,956, United Kingdom with 5,317, Japan had 4,813, Canada with 3,735 and Russia had 3,202 arrivals.

The opening of direct or chartered flights from Korea, China and Taiwan to Kalibo International Airport and the increase passenger traffic at Caticlan domestic airport by local airlines had contributed to the growing number of visitors in the island, the Department of Tourism (DoT) said.
Last year, the world-renowned Boracay Island had a slight increase of 2.4 percent tourist arrivals as compared to 634,263 domestic and foreign tourists of the previous year amid global recession.
East Asians composed of China, Hongkong, Japan, Taiwan and Korea posted 130,164 arrivals compared to foreigners from North America – United States, Canada and Mexico with 16,310 arrivals.
The months of April and May combined for 179,634 arrivals while September and October were the lean months with 78,149 visitors.
Boracay, the DoT stressed, is aggressively develop by the government to attract large number of tourists. The island, named as of the one of the top tourist destinations in Asia by an online magazine survey, is globally recognized by European bound tourists and Asian visitors as the most ideal destination in the country.

So I have a friend going to Boracay in a couple weeks and he has a room reserved in your place.

I am heading there quite soon as well and based on his recommendation after his trip, I may also be spending some time at your hotel. From what he tells me this looks like a perfect place to not waste an entire vacation budget on a hotel. After all, it's Boracay! How much time is spent in the room???

Anyway, I would tell you who my friend is but I want his experience there to be genuine so no advance notice! Heheheh

thank you ! Your friend is very welcome ! Well, I dont want to use this thread to advertise anything, but you are right .. When your friend is looking for an affordable Boracay accomodation, I guess our cottage or guesthouse offers are interesting for him. When he is looking for an expensive and luxury 5 star resort with pool and restaurant I recommend other Hotels at Boracay. Most of our guests are budget travellers and prefer to spend their money for reef walking, diving/snorkeling, island hopping, massage, spa, flyfish, banana boat ride, sailing tours and other activities.

Anyway, when you or your friend need further Boracay related informations you can also post it here in the Boracay category of the forum. Its not important if he/you book with us ... We are always helpful to give hints or answer questions for Boracay travellers

I've been in boracay for 2 times and I know I will come back there if I had some money. That is the only place that could unwind me.
