Default The Provincial Flag of Bohol

The island of Bohol in the Philippines is truly a place where natural resources and beauty thrives and resides. It is an island that has been defined by bewildering terrain formation (which is the Chocolate Hills), the smallest primates in the world (the Tarsiers) and the wonderful white sand beaches and its by world-class resorts and accommodation.

'The Republic of Bohol'

Boholanos (native of the Bohol Island) are very warm individuals that demonstrate tourists and visitors, the Filipino hospitality which defines what do Filipinos mean about the phrase ‘Feel at Home’. The native of Bohol refer to their small but wonderful island as 'Republic of Bohol' with both pride and conviction as they take delight to their islands natural assets. Bohol is one of the top of the line tourist spots at the Philippines. Bohol is certainly a piece of paradise on earth!

Provincial Flag of Bohol

The size and dimension of the Provincial Flag of Bohol is the same with the Philippine flag which has an aspect ratio of 1:2 which translate that the length is double the measure of the width.

Colors

The Provincial flag of Bohol consists of three (3) colors: red, white and blue. Blue signifies nobility, red means courage and white connotes purity. Red and blue runs in a vertical grain at the sides of the flag while white occupies the middle patch.

Design

Natural wonders and historical events have special place in the flag of bohol. The world famous Chocolate Hills, the Sikatuna-Legaspi Blood Compact (or the 'Sandugo'), two (2) 'bolos' and a lone star are the significant representations that can be seen at the flag.

The lone star signifies a native son of Bohol and that is Carlos P. Garcia, one of the presidents of the Philippines. Garcia was inaugurated as the eight (8th) president of the Philippines filling up the void of presidency upon Ramon Magsaysay's untimely death. Garcia is a native son of Talibon, Bohol. The provincial government of Bohol shall add another star in the event another Boholano would assume as the next president of the Philippines.

The two bolos (Filipino machete) with their knob or handle and hand-guards on top reclines respectively towards the right and left depicting two (2) significant revolts against the Spanish regime namely Tamblot and Dagohoy revolts. The bolos also mean that true Boholanos will battle and rise against factors that entangle them into something unreasonable and beyond tolerance.

The 'Sandugo' or the Sikatuna-Legaspi Blood Compact implies that the native of Bohol or the Boholanos are peace loving citizens.

Last, but certainly not the least, the Chocolate Hills of Bohol. This tourist attraction denotes the abundance of natural wonders that the Creator has blessed this island. The hills are illustrated with green background depicting Bohol as an agricultural province since most of its natives depend on farming for a living.

The Provincial Flag of Bohol is an epitome of the island's wonderful and blessed assets. The flag itself really sets the tone what tourists and visitors alike would expect as they stay in this humble yet flourishing island.

The Provincial Flag of Bohol has become a symbol of the island's significant historical events and the natural beauty the island possesses. The flag also give a glimpse of what tourists expect when they choose to visit this piece of paradise.
