Smile Tagbilaran Airport: The Major Airport in Bohol

The major airport in Bohol is definitely the Tagbilaran airport, which is very accessible from the city. Now that it is under construction, you can expect a lot of great things more from it that will spell convenience letter per letter.

Tagbilaran airport is your gateway to Bohol. It welcomes a huge number of visitor year in and year out. As Bohol is blessed with very little chances of catching a storm (Samar and Leyte kind of protect the oval-shaped province), it has been a favorite destination among foreigners and even locals alike.

What is the best way to reach Bohol? You guessed it right, go through the Tagbilaran airport. This airport in Bohol is accessible from the heart of the city. It is about only five minutes away from Tagbilaran city where premium commercial activities can be enjoyed by many.

Tagbilaran airport welcomes only domestic flights from both Manila and Cebu. If you are from a different town or country apart from the two, your way towards the airport in Bohol is to reach both the Manila and Cebu airports. That is also true among foreign visitors who come from abroad.

The airport in Bohol caters to the country’s premiere airlines. The flag carrier, Philippine Airlines flies to and from Bohol a couple of times a day. That is also true with Cebu Pacific and Asian Spirit. You sure would not be short of airline choices according to your preference, your availability, and your budget.

The flight to Bohol from Manila is just over and hour, while the flight to Bohol from Cebu takes less than an hour. People choose to fly rather than sail away to Bohol mainly because the former is more practical. The time travel allows for more activities. Nowadays, airfare is also no longer an issue among tourists. With the volume of passengers coming in to Bohol, airline companies are able to chunk down their rates considerably. Although the airfare is not as cheap, there are only a few peso difference between it and the fare that ferries and ships charges.

Tagbilaran airport is quite small. It only has a single terminal and a runway that is 1.7 kilometers long. But this airport in Bohol is indeed, well-facilitated. It has toilets and telephones and a covered lounge that embraces those who might be waiting for a guest. Taxis are also everywhere around the airport. You can ask them to take you to the city proper or to anywhere in Bohol for that matter.

From this standpoint, we can say that the airport in Bohol is functional enough to receive the number of tourists the province enjoys every year. But the local government certainly thinks that there is still room for improvement. In fact, parts of the airport are under construction to serve you and explorers like me better.
