Smile Chocolate Hills of Bohol

Visiting Bohol wouldn't be complete without a glimpse of the Chocolate Hills. The Magic of the Chocolate Hills has captured the imagination of everyone that it is truly a very magical place to visit.

The chocolate hills have captured both the imagination of foreign tourists and locals alike. They look like chocolate kisses scattered far and wide across a valley of greenery. It's hard to believe that these hills are Mother Nature's own creation. Many suspect that this magnificent glory was man made but people trying to prove this theory quickly lost interest in it because of lack of evidence. there are more or less a thousand two hundred hills and most of them look like copies of one another. Height is around thirty to fifty meters high. the hills are covered with grassy bonnets that turn into chocolate brown during the rainy season.

Olden folk from the area have different variations to the legend of how the chocolate hills were formed but the most famous one would be the tale of Arogo. Arogo was a big giant who fell in love with a mortal woman named Aloya. They were so in love with each other, that when Aloya died, Agoro cried giant tears for years because of grief. his tears then turned into the chocolate hills as we know it now.

No one can really tell for certain how the Chocolate Hills was formed, and no one can deny the magnificence of seeing the formations for the very first time. To get the best view of the chocolate hills, there are two places you can go to.

First is the chocolate hills complex. Before you can enter the complex, you would need to pay an entrance fee of fifty pesos so make sure you have loose bills ready. As you take a climb up the steps to the viewing platform, you will get to see a more extensive view of Bohol so make sure that you have your cameras ready. It can be a somewhat tiring climb but once you get to the top, you'll then realize that it was worth the effort.

If you're looking for a quieter place where you can see the chocolate hills and if you have plans to stay a couple of days around the area then you might want to go to Sagbayan Peak. Sagbayan Peak is a mountain resort with new facilities and cozy accommodations. It boasts of having the best view of the chocolate hills plus a view of the peninsula. There are so other activities that you can enjoy while at Sagbayan Peak, so this is definitely the go to place if you are travelling with your kids.

Chocolate hills are now considered as one of the wonders of the world so it's surely worth the trip.
