Eco tours in Maribojoc, Bohol Maribojoc is a town north of Tagbilaran City (< 30 minute drive from capital), with the panoramic view of neighboring island of Cebu and a few beach resort facility. It has played an important role in the Bohol Province' rich history. I had the opportunity to work with some of the public officials in Maribojoc, they are innately kindhearted and dedicated and here are a couple of eco-tourism projects they've launched. Night Boating Mangrove Tour - formally launched in 2008, this local based sustainable tourism conceptualized and managed by a local peoples' organization -DIMAPA- and assisted by the local government offers home-stay and cruising (secondary-growth) mangrove at night as fireflies fly around. DIMAPA was contracted to plant the mangrove before, in the province effort to restore ( and expand) the mangroves around Bohol. Alimango Boardwalk Nature Tour – a boardwalk tour amidst the mangrove area of Abatan river. These mangroves serves entrains smaller organisms and nutrients for the alimango (crab) , it serves as their home too but more importantly mangroves protects the land by serving as barrier during storms.
But on your way back to Tagbilaran City try to checkout Punta Cruz watchtower too, it’s my personal favorite.
