Default White Sands on Mactan Island Came from Zambo Norte

As a kid I used to visit Mactan Island during Sundays on board a motorized boat from a pier near Carbon market. There was no bridge that connected the island from Cebu Island. As far as I could remember the white sands on Mactan are only found on remote areas. The white sands on the compounds of five-star hotels now on the island were hauled in there from sandbars as far as islands off Zamboanga del Norte.
There were times that we went fish catching in Mactan and all we had seen were rocks--not fine white sands.
So do not be fooled with the white beaches of Mactan. They are not original. There were transported by barges and dumped there to please
European tourists looking for white sands. But nevertheless enjoy the sands and the place. If you really want white sands go to Boracay, El Nido, Dakak, they are really found in the place unlike Mactan which used to be black rocks and black sands--not white.
