reminds me about the great uproar against the Barrameda murder case. we Pinoys are very alarmed at such violations and would do everything in our means to stop such. our background has ingrained the idea of deep respect for women and great concern for kids in our native value system. though we have modernized a bit, many of us are still proponents of the old value system.
when i teach Filipino martial arts, for instance, i incorporate respect for rights, life, women and children, fellowmen, and the environment. it's not the fighting or the art alone; it's the proper value system. |
