The Angeles Bahay Bata Center was created for the purpose of giving young children the opportunity to live in a secure and healthy environment. By giving them a stable residence, their chances of becoming more productive members of society increase.
The center was established in 2001. The edifice and land area itself came from the Lazatin family who turned it over to the government so it could be used to provide shelter for the street kids. Through the support of the local officials, the center grew and today boasts of many amenities for the chilren staying there.
The building, which has three floors, is divided into four dormitories large enough to house 60 children. The Angeles Bahay Bata Center also has medical facilities to look into the needs of its young residents. There is also an extensive library where the children can read and learn.
Additionally there is an audio visual room, a cafeteria where the kids can relax and eat, and also a basketball court. Recently, a baseball field was built, which was courtesy of the donations of the United States military and other sponsors. A tour of the site will also reveal the various quarters for the caretaker, the administrators and other officials of the foundation.
The main thrust of the Angeles Bahay Bata Center is still the education of the children and it currently has a school which provides education for the gifted kids in the city. There are also trained guidance counselors who give the young people the means to attain their potential, not just in school but also to realize that they have the power within themselves to live a better life.
The center is open to boys aged from 8 to 17 and have either been abandoned by their parents, orphaned or been living on the streets. Young females are allowed to stay for a while until they can be placed or referred to the proper agency. However, the school the center operates is open to boys and girls. There are currently four classrooms with 25 students. For more information one can visit their website at
