The Rizal Boulevard One of the most popular landmarks in the city of Dumaguete is the Rizal Boulevard. It is named after a national hero Jose Rizal. The Rizal boulevard makes Dumaguete stand out from any other city in the province. This remarkable landmark has been preserved and improved through the years. It contains a rich history, a mark that makes Dumaguete far different from other cities.
You can already have a glimpse of the Rizal boulevard when you are about to dock on the pier. Here, you can see the whole stretch of the boulevard and admire its simplicity and grace. This has been always a part of the lives of the Dumagueteňos. Everyday, people go to the boulevard to have exercise such as brisk walking, jogging and some stationary exercises. For others, they use the boulevard for family picnics, meet with friends, or just even hanging out while looking at the horizon and enjoying the sea breeze.
When the night starts to break in, the boulevard becomes alive. You would definitely admire the whole stretch of the boulevard because of the lights aligned at the side walk. Each of the lights from the post gives a good effect like a painting on a canvass. Even at night many people still go to the boulevard to relax after a day’s work or just spending time with loved ones and friends. To some, they go to the boulevard to hangout with friends while eating Tempura a popular street food in Dumaguete. At one side of the boulevard, there is a group of vendors who sell Tempura. They prepare tables and chairs for the customers.
At the opposite side of the boulevard, you can see a stretch of bars and restaurants perfect for hang outs with friends and family gatherings. |
